It was a bright Monday morning in Alpharetta, Georgia, when Abeedur Rahman Khan, PMP, stepped into his new role as Project Manager – IT | Telecom | Fiber Optic Network. As he settled into his office, he reflected on the incredible journey that had brought him here—from his days as an ECE’99 alumnus to becoming a key figure in the world of fiber network rollouts.
Back in Bangladesh, Abeedur had played a crucial role in some of Robi’s most ambitious projects. The first BCP core sites, the expansion of live hub sites, and the rollout of over 4,000 km of dark fiber—each milestone was a testament to his strategic vision and relentless pursuit of excellence. He recalled the long nights spent ensuring budget approvals from the Axiata Group CTO, carefully crafting business cases, and overseeing end-to-end project execution.
But success never came without challenges. The last-mile lease fiber connecting 3,000+ sites and securing 100+ backhaul lease fibers for Robi’s first 3G rollout had been a test of his resilience. Coordinating across multiple teams—operations, planning, vendors, and regional units—was no easy feat. Yet, through effective risk management, quality assurance, and flawless execution, he and his team made it happen.
Now, in the United States, Abeedur was ready for a fresh challenge. His expertise in fiber network rollout and software project management positioned him as a valuable leader in his new company. The skills he had honed—Scrum mastery, risk assessment, stakeholder communication, and cost control—would now shape the future of fiber optic connectivity in North America.
As he reviewed his Kanban charts and prepared his first project kickoff meeting, he knew that this was just the beginning. With each successful project, he wasn’t just building networks—he was building a legacy of innovation and leadership.
